I'm thinking about building a movie theater. can I do it by myself?
If you put your mind to it, likely you can do anything - however there is a ton of science that goes into selecting electronics and constructing the space. Unless you don't mind doing what could be weeks to months of research and investigation, your best bet would be to consult with a theater design specialist.
Will a Blu Ray disc player play all of my existing DVDs and CDs?
Yes. A Blu-Ray disc player is 100% backwards compatible with all of your existing DVDs and CDs.
Are my child's video game systems' going to ruin my new plasma TV?
Not really, but a precaution or two never hurts. Newer plasma TVs are only really succeptable to burn-in pretty much during their 1st hundred hours of use. One way to shorten that time period is to leave the TV on for 1-2 days straight running a channel with constant video and no logos or test patterns late at night. Said channel should be in widescreen format (or stretched to widescreen format) in order to exercise the entire panel.
What will a universal remote do for me and is it compatible with all of my existing electronics?
A universal remote control will assist you in minimizing the amount of remote controls you use to operate your system. A universal remote is usually compatible with most of the devices on the market. If your device is controlled with an IR remote then we can control it with a universal.
I have a lot of VCR tapes of my children and family. Can I hook a VCR up to my new home theater?
Yes. You can hook up a VCR, however it may not provide the best picture quality once displayed on a large screen. Your best bet may to send the VCR tapes out to an online service and be transferred to DVD.
